Robert “Bobby” Wilson Slate, Sr., age 60, of Brownwood, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 in Brownwood. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 5PM – 7PM at Heartland Funeral Home.
Mr. Slate was born on May 11, 1956 in Brownwood, Texas to Norman Forrest Hartzell & Verna Lee Slate. He was married to Nina Slate. Bobby loved fishing, helping people, and cooking. He served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Slate of New Jersey, one daughter and husband Tracy & Craig Newman of Brownwood, Texas; sister Beth Hartzell of Waco, and brother Norman Hartzell of Brownwood; Grandchildren Dustin Thomas, Hayden Thomas, and Hunter Slate Chambers all of Bangs, Texas; nephew & wife Brandon & Amanda Hartzell of League City, Texas. He is also survived by numerous extended family members as well as numerous friends in New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son Robert Slate, Jr.
The family wishes to thank Solaris Hospice of Brownwood, Texas for their care. Also, Garden RX Pharmacy and Carmela’s Restaurant both of New Jersey for their love and support over the years.
