Robert (Bobby) Glen Heard

Funeral Services for Robert (Bobby) Glen Heard, age 80 of Early, Texas will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with  Todd King officiating.  Interment will be held at 3:30 P.M Monday at the Slater Cemetery in Nolan, Texas.  The family will receive friend 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.  He passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 in a local nursing home.

Bobby was born on February 10, 1930 in Hot Wells, Texas to Jack D. and Elsie Estelle Snyder Heard and was raised and attended school in Owens, Texas. He lived and worked for many years in VanHorn, Texas before moving to Nolan, Texas where he was a rancher for the R & R Ranch for twenty five years.  In 1994 he returned to Brownwood and married Shirley Carr Moneyhun on January 2, 1996.  He attended the High Mesa Cowboy Church and enjoyed riding horses and fishing with his grandson Corbin. Bobby believed in family. They began the Heard Reunion in 1966 and this would have been Bobby’s forty fifth reunion.  It was a chance to hear and tell family stories.

Survivors include: Wife:  Shirley Heard of Early, Texas;Step-daughters:  Cheryl Landers and husband Steve of Brookesmith, Tx.;Alyssa Moneyhun of Brownwood, Tx.;Tonya Peacock and husband Jerry of California;Grandchildren:  Corbin Elison, Robbie Heard and Shelly Heard;Brothers:  Eddie Mack Heard of Early, Tx.;George Heard and wife Irene of Early, Tx.;Mickie Heard of Oklahoma;J.D. Heard and wife Irma of Minden, Louisiana;and Numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elsie Estelle Snyder Heard Hartman and Jack Heard, ex wife Opal Heard, one son George Robert Heard, three brothers Billie, Gerald and Lonnie Heard and by two sisters Charlene Heard Pemberton and Lola Mae Heard Wells.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Robert Glen Heard Memorial fund that has be set up in his memory at the Heartland Funeral Home, 303 Early Blvd. ,  Early, Texas 76802
