SharpRobertRobert “Bob” Sharp, age 77, left his earthly home in Bangs, Texas to be with our heavenly Father on December 1, 2012 with his loving family at his side.  Funeral Services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Bangs with Dr. Pepper Dill and Shannon Bond officiating. Interment will follow with Masonic graveside rites in the Bangs Cemetery.   The family will receive friends 6 – 8 PM Monday at the Heartland Funeral Home.

Bob was born March 7, 1935 in Bangs, Texas to Robert and Fannie Sharp.  He was married to his best friend and the love of his life, Bettie Stephens on May 23, 1956 in Trickham, Texas.

Bob, a graduate of Bangs High School earned his Master’s of Education Degree from Howard Payne University and an Administration of Education from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.  After retiring from 32 years of school administration, he was owner-operator of Coast to Coast trucking for 10 years.

In 1965, the most precious baby girl came into his and Bettie’s lives.  In 1967 they were blessed with a son.  Later in life they were blessed with two beautiful granddaughters who were the apple of Bob’s eyes.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy for 3 years; was a member of the Bangs First Baptist Church; served as an EMT and reserve police officers; was a Master Mason and Suez Shriner.  He was a father figure to many boys & girls at the South Texas Children’s Home and continued to touch the lives of many young men and women as a Texas high school coach, principal & teacher.  Bob was a very caring, loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bettie; his daughter Joella & husband Kelly Young of Franklin, TN, granddaughters Ashley Liford of San Antonio, Tx; Marilyn “May” Allen of Denton, Tx; brother Jimmy & wife Teenie Sharp of Blanket, Tx; sister-in-law Shirley Sharp of Bangs, Tx; brother-in-law Otis & wife Paula Stephens of Brownwood, Tx; sister-in-law Wanda & husband Ellis Weatherman of Comanche, Tx and his precious step-grandchildren Emily, Cutty, Maggie & Tessa Young of Boerne, Tx.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Albert Sharp, and son Gregory Sharp.
