BROWNWOOD – Travelers between Brownwood and Bangs can expect delays as crews work to rehabilitate and repave a 3-mile section of US 67/84. Workers are scheduled to begin setting traffic control barricades around April 6, with actual construction beginning the week of April 10.
The Texas Department of Transportation has awarded a $3,342,055.98 contract to IOC Company, LLC of Edinburg, Texas for the project, which includes the removal of the existing driving surface and application of new asphalt pavement on the four lane divided highway between Bangs Hill (just west of the Brownwood city limits) and County Road 152.
During the project, which is expected to be completed in July, drivers can expect lane closures and reduced speed limits. TxDOT urges caution as workers will be within feet of fast-moving traffic. Motorists are reminded that traffic fines are doubled in work zones when workers are present.
TxDOT’s Brownwood District includes Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Lampasas, McCulloch, Mills, San Saba and Stephens counties.
