Hometown Country Christmas will take place in downtown Rising Star from 10:00am to 4:00pm Saturday, December 3, 2011.  Downtown merchants along with the Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring this event.

Local businesses will be open all day Saturday along with sidewalk vendors.   Many unique products will be offered such as goat milk products, lavender products and oils, pecan pralines and pork rinds, Red Neck roses, homemade fruitcakes, decorated jars, knives, cowboy stuff, coins, handmade jewelry, even a local author will be signing her published books.

Organizers encourage people not to worry about missing lunch because there will be Frito pies, nachos and chili at one of the booths, as well as hot chocolate and popcorn balls at another.  Star Pride will be having a bake sale and locals say the group has many good cooks.

The Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to take photos with Santa, who will be arriving at 10:00am.  Christmas music will be provided by the Chamber of Commerce.  There will be Christmas carols and Christmas karaoke all day.

A special feature of the day, “The Christmas Story”, will be performed by Gorman Welch, Rising Star’s own Cowboy Poet between 11:00am and 2:00pm.

All booths and events will be outside on the street; however, if the weather does not cooperate, all booths, events, and Santa will move indoors to the Higginbotham building.  Come celebrate with Rising Star, and help show community spirit as this special time of the year begins.

Vendor space is still available, for more information call Nancy at 325-203-0311.
