Memorial services for Richard Eldon “Tex” Hodges, age 75, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 27, 2012 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Hall and Johnnie Lawson officiating.
He went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.
Tex was a mail carrier in Brownwood for 21 years and retired in 2000 as assistant Post Master in Luling, Texas. He married the love of his life Terri Dale Ray on November 9, 1980 in Travis County.
Tex graduated from Abilene Christian College and was a lifelong minister. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. Tex was a two-time graduate of the Citizen’s Police Academy. He also worked as a jailer for Caldwell, Comanche, and Brown Counties. Tex was a charter member of the Haven of Hope Church.
Tex leaves behind his loving wife of 32 years, Terri Hodges of Brownwood; children Jerry Hodges and wife Dottie of Dripping Springs, Scott Lawson and Rhonda Lawson of Brownwood, Paul Lawson of New Braunfels, Charles Lawson and wife Sandy of Bangs, Jack Reynolds and wife April of Arlington, Brad Reynolds of wife Julie of San Antonio, Crystal Lawson of Austin; his loving companion Bebop; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren. He will be missed by them all.
