Born in McGregor, TX, Reverend, James Booker Hogan, 91, son of Jim Thomas Hogan and Audrey Alberta Jackson and long-time resident of Brownwood, TX passed on to be with the Lord on Thursday, the 20th of August.

Reverend Hogan grew up in Morgan, TX and proudly served in the United States Navy. After his service in the military, Reverend Hogan married Frankie Brown Hogan on May 24, 1958 and began his life raising a family of a daughter and three sons. Answering his calling to serve the Lord, Reverend Hogan preached his first message on February 18, 1969 at the Little Zion Baptist Church and went on to pastor his own church at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Brady and the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Ballinger.

During his time of raising a family and pastoring, Reverend Hogan provided for his family working as a lineman for General Telephone and Electronics Corporation (GTE) and retiring after 33 years. He ran for the Brownwood ISD school board in the early 1970s and was a community activist, striving for the development and growth of the youth.

As a God fearing man, Reverend Hogan never met a stranger and loved anyone and everyone that would take the time to say hello. He loved to sing, Peace in the Valley as a particularly favorite, and old westerns and country music served as a favorite past time. An honorable man, he never strayed from sharing the word of God and what he believed. With a compassionate heart, his unconditional love for his family and friends and his faith for God, there are no questions as to if his duty was fulfilled here on earth.
