Organizers, workers and volunteers were in full setup mode on Thursday, getting ready for the 12th annual Brownwood Reunion Celebration which will be held September 14-16.  Periodic rain showers didn’t slow anything for organizers as they began turning the area between the Depot Civic & Cultural Center and the Brownwood Coliseum into festival grounds.

Concert tickets for the main stage performances of Rick Springfield on Friday and Wade Bowen on Saturday were selling quickly so fans could take advantage of the advance ticket price.  The weekend concert passes will be available until noon on Friday for $15 at Brownwood Music, KOXE, Wendlee Broadcasting, and the Brownwood and Early Chambers of Commerce.  Prices at the gate will be $20 each for the weekend pass.

Reunion organizers said that if rain comes during the concerts, plan to get wet.

“The concerts will go on if it rains,” said Brownwood Reunion Celebration Director Kim Peterson.  She said that only lightning or strong winds would cause any change in the concert schedule.  Several forecasts predict that rain will clear out by Friday afternoon, according to organizers.

Construction on the main stage was not the only thing being prepared on Thursday; attractions such as the laser ops began setup as well as various commercial and food vendors.  The midway carnival was also in full swing Thursday in the Brownwood Coliseum parking lot.

Several competitions were also being set up with the start of packet pickup for the Reunion 5K/10K run and 1.5 mile walk.  Participants picked up their information and shirts on Thursday at the Lehnis Railroad Museum.  There will another chance to pick up packets for that event on Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning.

The classic car show also began setting up in the Brownwood Coliseum which will feature about 50 entries this year.
