The 12th annual Brownwood Reunion Celebration gets underway this weekend, September 14-16, and many are already preparing for the festivities; including weekend concerts from 80s pop rock heartthrob Rick Springfield and country artist Wade Bowen.
Area volunteers are working to make this year’s event even bigger than before. The Brownwood Reunion Celebration is a festival that includes not only great musical entertainment on the main stage but also many other local artists who will perform on smaller stages throughout the Reunion grounds.
Another great part of the Reunion is the annual Car Show which will feature many cars from across the state in the Brownwood Coliseum during Reunion weekend.
The Reunion 5K/10K runs are also a big favorite, attracting hundreds of runners who will take on the route that meanders through historic downtown Brownwood. There are categories for all types of runners, divided according to age and gender.
Another must to take in is the magic show by David Hira, who is entertaining to both children and adults. Hira will perform eleven times throughout the weekend.
Contests such as Hands on a House, the BBQ cook-off, photo contest, and Brownwood’s Got Talent are sure to be fun to watch and cheer on the contestants.
For those who enjoy a good parade, this is the weekend as there are two parades during Reunion – the Honor a Hero Parade and the Reunion Grand Parade. The Honor a Hero Parade is a patriotic themed parade honoring heroes such as the military. The Reunion’s Grand Parade features marching bands, tumbling groups, local businesses and organizations, and more.
Other attractions include a full carnival filled with thrilling rides, the Kids Zone, bubble runners, bungee trampoline, pony rides, dunking booth and a rock climbing wall. Many vendors will be offering their goods and concessions as well.
Concert tickets are on sale now and available at KOXE, Wendlee Broadcasting, Brownwood Music, Brownwood Chamber of Commerce, and the Early Chamber of Commerce. An all-weekend concert pass may be purchased for $15 (per person) in advance and $20 at the gate.
