The Brownwood Art Association proudly opened their doors to the public as the freshly renovated gallery of the Brownwood Art Center had its first ever exhibit during the 2011 Brownwood Reunion Celebration.
The photography contest had entrants from all ages and plenty of diverse subject matter, even a “Funny Photo” category with subject matter including “White Trash Family Portrait”, “Swan Dive at Yosemite,” and a photo of living statues featuring Sulema Orr & her husband.
According to Brownwood Art Association President Melanie Nayor, the exhibit was a great success with 144 entries. Over 115 people visited the event by early afternoon on Sunday. The event was located at the Art Center located at 215 Fisk, just a block over from the Reunion festival grounds.
“It’s been very exciting for us,” said Naylor. “We’ve had a great response to the building, which has revved us up for starting phase 3 of our renovation project.”
