For the second year in a row, the Brownwood Reunion Celebration featured the Honor a Hero children’s parade. The parade was designed for kids to walk with and honor a hero that has an impact on their lives. Many kids walked with a parent who is serving in the military, as a law enforcement officer, or someone they look up to.
The route ran down Carnegie through the festival and was led by the Brownwood High School drum line. The parade paused for a moment to honor the playing of the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Participants and their hero were given an American flag to carry in the parade. Kids were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue.
As an added bonus for the 10th Reunion Celebration, several soldiers from Fort Hood were on hand along with Brigadier General Peter Atkinson, Deputy Commander of III Corps and Fort Hood.
