The Pecan Valley and Brown County Republican Women organizations, in conjunction with the Brown County Republican Party will be hosting a candidate forum Feb. 4, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Victory Life Church.
Republican party chair Robert Porter said the two groups have worked closely in putting on the forum. “Both groups wanted to put a forum together that would give each candidate an opportunity to be seen and heard and give them an opportunity to answer questions prudent to the offices they are running for,” Porter said. “This forum will also allow residents to learn more about each candidate.”
The order for each race has already been established, Porter said. By race, each candidate will speak in the order in which they are listed on the ballot. “Rather than reinventing the wheel, we simply decided to go by the ballot order,” Porter said.
The order is as follows: Brown County Commissioner Precinct 1, Brown County Commissioner Precinct 3, Texas House District 60, Texas State Senate District 24, Brown County Sheriff and Brown County District Attorney.
Anyone who would like to submit a question in advance can do so by sending an email to hefner254@yahoo.com. “We are asking that when questions are submitted that each question include the candidate it is to be asked of,” Porter said. Questions will also be accepted at the forum. “Everyone will have an opportunity to submit questions on February 4,” Porter said. “Myself and Ray Tipton will be screening the questions to ensure there are not multiples, which can happen. We need to be expedient in getting through a rather lengthy process.”
Candidates in non-contested races will also be recognized at the forum. Victory Life Church is located at 901 C.C. Woodson Rd.
