MLB Rumors: Shelby Miller and the Milwaukee Brewers are in agreement on a contract, per Ken Rosenthal. Miller, who was released by the Texas Rangers last week, will reportedly receive a minor league contract.

Miller signed a one year deal with the Rangers this offseason after three years of injuries and ineffectiveness with the Arizona Diamondbacks, who traded Dansby Swanson, Ender Inciarte and Aaron Blair to acquire Miller in December, 2015. The hope was that Miller, who was returning from Tommy John surgery, would be closer to the form that established him as one of the very good young starting pitchers in the majors in the early part of this decade.

Unfortunately, Miller was bad in the rotation for the Rangers, resulting him being sent to the bullpen, where he showed some flashes but ultimately couldn’t stick on the major league roster. The Rangers and Miller reportedly had some mutual interest in Miller staying with the organization with Nashville, but having checked out the landscape upon becoming a free agent, Miller is in Milwaukee instead.

Miller had an 8.59 ERA in 44 IP for the Rangers.
