halloween2012It’s that time of year again for kids to figure out costumes and adults to buy candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters.  Many places in the Brownwood area are hosting events celebrating fall and for Halloween.

October 31st or Halloween falls on Friday this year and in addition to trick-or-treating, many places in the Brownwood area will be hosting special events leading up to the day.  Some local churches and non-profit organizations have festivals and haunted houses for people of all ages.

Fridays and Saturdays October 17-November 1st
8:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.

The annual World of Terror Haunted House will be held on October 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and November 1 from 8:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. each night.  The haunted house will be held at the Boys and Girls Club, located at 1701 Ave L in Brownwood.  Tickets are $8 each and same night return trips are just $5.  All proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

 

Milton Avenue Baptist Church Fall Festival
Wednesday, October 29th
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Milton Avenue Baptist Church is hosting a Fall Festival this Wednesday, October 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to join the Milton Avenue congregation as they enjoy a night of fun.  There will be games, snacks, and a hay ride.  Attendees are encouraged to dress up in costume.  Organizers state that everyone is welcome.

AbundantLifeHarvestFest2014Harvest Fest at Abundant Life Church
Wednesday, October 29th
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Abundant Life Church will host its annual Harvest Fest on October 29th.  There will be several
booths for kids, trunk or treat, free hotdogs (as long as they last), and a cake walk.  Pastor Todd King and his worship team from High Mesa Cowboy church will be providing music during the fest.  Abundant Life Church is located at 585 W. Commerce Street.

 

Early First Baptist Church Fall Festival
Wednesday, October 29th
5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

EFBC will host their annual fall festival in the church’s Christian Activity Center (gym) from 5:30 -7:30 p.m.  Organizers state there will be lots of fun, games and food.  Although this is a free event, those attending are encouraged to bring a can of chicken broth for the Good Samaritan Ministries.  Early First Baptist Church is located at 103 Garmon Drive in Early.

Trunk or Treat at Freedom Fellowship Church
Wednesday, October 29
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Freedom Fellowship Church will host a Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 29.  It will be held in the church parking lot from 6-8 p.m.  The church is located at 1040 Early Blvd.  Come in costume and enjoy lots of candy and fun.

Thursday, October 30th
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Redstone Park will host a Fall Festival on Thursday, October 30th from 6 – 8 PM at 2410 Songbird Circle in Brownwood.  Join their residents and staff in celebrating the fall season.  Organizers encourage everyone to come enjoy an evening of fall fun with door prizes, refreshments, a costume contest, entertainment, games, and trick or treating.  For more information call (325) 643-9056.  Redstone Park is located at 2410 Song Bird Circle in Brownwood.

7:30 p.m.  – Midnight

Old Jail is Haunted Again! Take part in a zombie hunt where visitors try to control their fear as they go through the dark halls of the Old Jail, armed only with a NERF gun against hordes of desperate Zombies.   Tickets are just $5.00 each.  The Old Jail is located at 212 North Broadway in Brownwood.  For more information, please contact Nick Ewen at 325-203-7509.

 

TrickOrTreatTrail3rd Annual Trick or Treat Trail
Friday, October 31
Begins at 5:00 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the 3rd Annual Trick or Treat Trail sponsored by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and Wendlee Broadcasting.  All the fun will kick-off at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 31st, in the Depot Plaza area located at 600 E. Depot.   Local businesses will gather for two hours handing out goodies/candy and offering games and fun for all ages.  This year will also feature a Halloween Costume Contest.   For more information or to sign up for a booth, please contact the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce at 325-646-9535.

Trunk or Treat – Bangs FBC
Friday, October 31st
5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Bangs First Baptist Church will host a Trunk or Treat event on Friday, October 31st from 5:30-7:00 p.m.   Bangs FBC is located right off of Fitzgerald Street in Bangs.  The event is sponsored by Bangs FBC and the Bangs Lions Club.

Brownwood Nursing and Rehab
Friday, October 31st
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Brownwood Nursing and Rehab will host a trick or treat event on Friday, October 31st from 6-8 pm.  There will be candy and even a bounce house so the kids can burn off that energy!   For questions, please call Cara at 325-643-9555.

The Brownwood Evangelism Center will host a Candy Land themed trunk or treat on Friday, October 31st beginning at 6 p.m.  The public is invited to enjoy free candy, free games and free nachos.  Brownwood Evangelism Center is located at 2515 Avenue D in Brownwood.

First Christian Church Trunk or Treat
Friday, October 31st
5:30-7:00 p.m.

First Christian Church will host a Trunk or Treat on October 31st, Halloween night, from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  First Christian Church is located at 2411 Coggin Avenue in Brownwood.

Austin Avenue Church of Christ Trunk or Treat
Saturday, November 1st
5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Austin Avenue Church of Christ will host their annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, November 1st from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the church parking lot.  Austin Avenue Church of Christ is located at 1020 Austin Avenue, in Brownwood.

Southside Church Trunk or Treat
Saturday, November 1st
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Southside Church will host their annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, November 1st.  Kids ages birth to 6th grade are invited to come in costume and enjoy lots of fun and candy.  Please no witches, goblins or scary costumes. Southside Church is located at 1219 Indian Creek in Brownwood.

Halloween Spooktacular
Saturday, November 1
6:30-8:30 p.m.

Heart of Texas Child Advocacy Center’s Gurl Guide Program Kickoff for girls 6th – 12th grade.  Light refreshments, mummy wrap, costume contest, viewing of “Hocus Pocus,” and  more.  Inside Heartland Mall in the old Bealls building.

10th Annual Fall Fun Fest – May Community Center
Saturday, November 1st
5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

The May Community Center in May, Texas will have their 10th annual Fall Fun Fest on Sat. Nov. 1, 2014 from 5p.m. to 8p.m.  This will be a fundraiser to benefit the May Community Center. There will be fun for all ages and prizes for every participant. Activities planned include “goldfish” ping-pong  ball toss, fishing pond, basketball toss, bolo throw, a cookie walk, a cake walk, Bingo, raffles, and others.  A concession stand with a variety of delicious home cooked foods will be available. There will be hot dogs, chili dogs, bowls of stew, beans, and chili served with cornbread and /or crackers, Frito pie, nachos, tea, coffee, bottled water and cold drinks, and pie by the slice. Everyone (young and young at heart) are welcome to come dressed in funny costumes (please, no scary costumes) and have an evening of fun, food, and fellowship at the May Community Center.  Those who wish to help support the event may make a donation of cookies, cake, pie, or a bag of candy, which can be brought to the May Community Center on Friday or Saturday.
