The Brownwood Lyric Theatre’s stage production of Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias will open tonight, September 17th, and tickets to the performances are still available.
This is the second time that the Lyric has showcased this production. The Lyric Performing Arts Company first premiered this play in the summer of 2011 with record attendance at the time, which was performed at the Brownwood High School while the Lyric Theatre was being renovated.
This year’s production of Steel Magnolias will feature the same cast as before and will be showcased at the theatre in Downtown Brownwood.
There are 10 performances scheduled for the show from September 17-27th at the Brownwood Lyric Theatre. Tickets to the shows can be purchased now at BrownwoodLyricTheatre.com. Advance purchases are encouraged because of anticipated sell-out shows.
The play is about the bond between six women from a parish in the Natchitoches, Louisiana, area. Harling’s play was made into a well known movie in 1989.
