Fundraising efforts are underway to help revitalize Cecil Holman Park in Brownwood and a fundraiser event is scheduled for Saturday, October 1st from 12-5 pm. During this time, Members of Revitalizing Our Community (ROC) will have information to share with the public about the revitalization plans, showing areas where projects are planned and they will be accepting donations at this time.
The plans also include a memorial walkway with engraved memorial bricks, which are now being sold in memory of or honoring donors, their family members, or special groups. These bricks, recently donated by the City of Brownwood, will be used to construct a walkway through the park. The cost of each brick is $75 and allows donors to order an engraving on their brick. Larger granite bricks are also available for $200.
The group hopes to raise approximately $300,000 and has a good start to that goal with a $100,000 donation from the City of Brownwood and over $30,000 raised from donations from local businesses and individuals. To date about 100 of the 200 memorial bricks have already been sold.
For more information, please contact ROC members Draco Miller at 325-642-7921 or Marisha Stidham at 325-642-4447.
