Brownwood Jaycees will host RiverFest from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 15 at Riverside Park in Brownwood. RiverFest is a festival that was held years ago and is being recreated by the Jaycees in what is planned to be an ongoing annual event in the future.
Admission into RiverFest will be $2 per adult and $1 for children with half of the admission proceeds going to the Salvation Army’s School Supply fund.
“We’re super excited to be teaming up with the Jaycees,” said Stacy Tennison, director of the Salvation Army of Brownwood. “We are always looking for help with our annual school supply drive since they can be very pricey. Our goal is to help relieve some of the financial stress from parents and this partnership will help us achieve that goal. This is truly a blessing for us.”
The all-day event will feature live music, various arts and crafts vendors, a kid’s corner and car show. Residents can also enter in one of the three competitions that will take place including a fishing contest, a barbecue cook-off sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society and the raft races.
There will also be a dance from 8 PM – midnight Saturday, featuring Doc Sikes and the Last Dance Band. The Texas Honey Badgers will be the opening performers. Admission is $5 for 18 and older. No children will be admitted. A $10 cooler charge will also be collected at the BYOB event.
