The West Central Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross will host a tribute to first responders along with Brownwood Fire and Police Department followed by an open house at its new location on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. The tribute will honor local first responders and remember those our nation lost on 9/11, followed by a reception at the new Red Cross office location in Brownwood.
“The Red Cross works very closely with our firefighters, police officers and emergency management teams in times of disaster,” said Janet Karcher, Executive Director, American Red Cross West Central Texas Chapter. “We are honored not only be part of the recognition for these individuals who serve the community, but also further strengthen our foundation in Brownwood by welcoming everyone to the new location.”
The ceremony will include the presentation of the Honor Flag, bell ceremony, dedication to men and women serving in the armed forces, a moment of silence and prayer.
Speakers include Brownwood Fire Chief Del Albright, Fire Chaplin David Barnum, Brownwood Police Chief Mike Corley, Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes, Dave Fair – Chaplain of Ground Zero and Dr. Dan Chapman – Chaplain of Ground Zero.
The event will take place starting at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Red Cross’ new location in the Family Service Center – 901 Avenue B.
