The Brownwood Art Association will host their First Thursday Event featuring Gayle Ritchey from 5-8 p.m. on September 5th.
Ritchey is a self-taught artist, with a lifelong love of fine arts. Being raised on a farm in the Panhandle ingrained in her a deep respect for the land in all its forms and glory, and a fascination with trees. Strong historical family ties fostered an appreciation of the past, the stories of people and old homes always an inspiration for a painting.
An often heard comment on some of her paintings is “oh, I remember a place like that” which is a very gratifying response, according to Ritchey.
Ritchey has shown her work at venues such as the Barnes Gallery in Plano, the Dow Gallery in Ft. Worth, and the Brownwood Art Center.
The First Thursday event featuring Ritchey’s artwork will be held at the Art Center at 215 Fisk. The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.
