It’s that time of year again for kids to figure out costumes and adults to buy candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters. Many places in the Brownwood area are hosting events celebrating fall and for Halloween.
October 31st or Halloween falls on Thursday this year and in addition to trick-or-treating, many places in the Brownwood area will be hosting special events leading up to the day. Some local churches and non-profit organizations have festivals and haunted houses for people of all ages.

BROWNWOOD FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION HAUNTED HOUSE Opens at 7pm each night and runs through midnight at the Home Economics Building at the Brown County Fair Grounds on Hwy 377 South. $7 for 12 years and up, $5 for under 12. Proceeds benefit the Brownwood Professional Firefighter’s Association scholarship fund.

LIGHT THE NIGHT PROJECT 5:30-7:30 pm
Make First United Methodist Church Brownwood your first stop on Halloween night and get your free glow light. In an effort to make trick or treating safe for children, the church will be handing out over 1000 free glow lights. The glow lights are also a great reminder that “Jesus is the light of the world. Whoever follows Him will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” FUMC’s Drive – Thru Glow Light Alley at 2500 11th Street (across from the high school) will be open @ 5:30pm -7:30pm. So please stop by First United Methodist Church Brownwood, get your free glow light, & have a safe and happy Halloween.
2ND ANNUAL TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL 5:00 pm – 7:00pm
Sponsored by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and Wendlee Broadcasting
All the fun will kick-off at 5:00 PM in the Wendlee parking lot located at 600 Fisk Avenue. Local businesses will gather for two hours handing out goodies/candy and offering games and fun for all ages!

HALLOWEEN LIGHTS & MUSIC SHOW at Weakley-Watson Sporting Goods 7-10:00 p.m.
Owners and staff of Weakley-Watson Sporting Goods invite the public to a free Halloween Lights and Music Show which will be in its last night, October 31st. Bring the family and enjoy several fun Halloween themed songs with a coordinated light show on the storefront of Weakley-Watson Sporting Goods, located at 102 Fisk Avenue in Brownwood. On the final show date, staff will also be handing out Halloween candy.
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB – WORLD OF TERROR HAUNTED HOUSE 8 pm – 12 am.
The World of Terror Haunted House, benefitting the Boys & Girls Club will be held Oct. 18, 19, 25, 26 & 31 from 8pm – 12 am each night. Admission $7. The Boys & Girls Club is located at 1701 Avenue L.
FALL FESTIVAL FRENZY – HEARTLAND MALL 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Heartland Mall, located at 300 Early Blvd., is hosting a Fall Festival Frenzy this Halloween! Come to Heartland Mall from 5-8 on Halloween evening and enjoy games set up throughout the entire mall, hay rides for parents and children, and of course lots of candy for trick-or-treaters in every store! “TRILOGY OF TERROR” – BROWN COUNTY MUSEUM OF HISTORY 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Brown County Museum of History and Alpha Psi Omega present their Trilogy of Terror October 25-26 and again on October 31st. Cost per attraction is $5 per person. 3 Haunted Attractions, 3 levels of fear, fun for the entire family. Pick your poison, according to how brave you are.
“Ghosts by Candlelight” – This event is family friendly, but haunted none the less. Tour the Museum Annex, with nothing but lamplight to guide your way. Keep a sharp lookout though, because there may be “others” taking the tour with you. If you feel really brave, take a turn in the “Ghost Box” at the end.
“Zombie Lockdown” – To those of you who went through this last year, get ready. We will be opening up a whole new floor of terror. Fight your way through the Zombie hoards, as you try to find a way to put an end to the Zombie Apocalypse. We hope you have the “BRAINS” to survive.
“A Victorian Haunting” – Step back in time, as you enter a Gothic nightmare, come to life. Things are not always as they appear, as one of your group, may hold the secret to the terror that awaits. Try to stay together as you make your way through the cemetery, and down into the ancient crypt.
TRUNK OR TREAT – BENNIE HOUSTON COMMUNITY CENTER 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
There will be a trunk or treat event, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Bennie Houston Community Center parking lot on October 31.
FALL FESTIVAL – COGGIN AVENUE BAPTIST CHURCH 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Coggin Avenue Baptist Church will host their annual Fall Festival in the church parking lot. There will be activity booths, face painting and much more, including inflatables. The public is invited to attend this event and enjoy free candy and hot dogs. Costume or no costume, everyone is welcome!
TRUNK OR TREAT – FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH 6pm to 7:30pm
First Christian Church, located at 2411 Coggin Avenue in Brownwood, will host a Trunk or Treat on October 31st in front parking lot of the church.
BROWN COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Local law enforcement officials and staff will hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.
TRUNK N TREAT – SOUTHSIDE CHURCH 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Southside Church will host a “Trunk n Treat” in the back lot at the church building on October 31. Southside Church is located at 1219 Indian Creek Drive.
SENIOR CARE OF BROWNWOOD 6:00 pm -8 pm
Senior Care residents will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters in the Lobby of Senior Care, located at 2700 Memorial Park Drive in Brownwood.

VICKSBURG RETIREMENT COMMUNITY
The Vicksburg Retirement Community at 3020 4th Street will be hosting Trick-or-Treaters on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Please use door underneath the awning.
TRUNK OR TREAT – BROWNWOOD EVANGELISM CENTER 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Brownwood Evangelism Center, located at 2515 Ave D, will be having a Trunk or Treat October 31 from 6 to 8 PM. There will be tons of candy, food, and fun!
COSTUME CONTEST & HALLOWEEN CANDY – Jomio and Rueliete’s 4-8 p.m.
Come by Jomio and Rueliete’s Cards and Comics on Halloween night to score candy and awesome free comics between 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and again on Saturday from 5-9 p.m. Jomio and Rueliete’s is located at 2101 CR 381 Early, TX 76802 (About one block down the road between Prima Pasta and Cefco). Also, be sure to dress up for their second annual costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume in two categories, kids and adults.
