VoiceOfManyVoicesCASA in the Heart of Texas, Inc. is gearing up for “The Voice of Many Voices,” an exciting fundraising event that will occur on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 6:30 P.M. The event, which will be held at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church at 1715 Coggin Avenue, will include a dinner catered by James Cooley of Hi-Way Auto Parts. In addition, TJ Smith, “America’s best singing impressionist” will be performing live. CASA is pleased to have Bob James Crooks as emcee for the evening, which will also include a silent auction as well as door prizes. The event is being sponsored by Big Country Ford. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to help CASA in the Heart of Texas, Inc. reach its goal of having a CASA volunteer for every child that needs one. The CASA program has been serving abused and neglected children in the foster care system since 2001. District Judge Stephen Ellis was instrumental in bringing the program to Brownwood as he sought resources to enable him to make better decisions for the children who were before him in Court. The program trains and supports quality volunteers to advocate for the best interest of the children in an effort to find each child a safe, permanent, nurturing home. CASA volunteers are the eyes and ears of the Court and ensure that the child has a voice through the difficult maze of the legal and child welfare systems.

April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, which makes this a good time for CASA to hold such an event. “Each one of us has a responsibility to ensure the safety of our children,” said Michelle Wells, Executive Director of CASA in the Heart of Texas. CASA is a private, non-profit organization and depends on the support of the community through volunteers, Board members, as well as financial support in order to fulfill the mission. According to Ms. Wells, “We feel privileged to live in such a generous, supportive community that cares about its children. Your support has enabled us to better serve abused and neglected children.”

Tickets for the event are limited. The tickets are $40 each and are available at the CASA Office at 901 Avenue B, KOXE, the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce, or through any CASA Board Member. For information about “The Voice of Many Voices” or about CASA, please call the office at 643-2557.
