Join the staff at Lake Brownwood State Park for their second annual “Holiday at the Lake” on Saturday, December 14th. Visitors can bring camping gear and decorations for a competition for the best decorated campsite. The winner will have their camping fees waived for the evening. Winners of the contest will be announced starting at 7 p.m. at the Group Recreation Hall.
Park officials invite the public, even if they aren’t camping, to come to Lake Brownwood State Park at 7:00 p.m. (after the Bangs Christmas Parade) for a campfire talk with a park ranger and let the kids meet Santa, decorate sugar cookies and if the sky is clear, a telescope will be set up for some star gazing and a look at the moon. Hot chocolate will also be provided.
Normal park entry fees apply: $4/ person, kids 13 and under are free. Call the park office for applicable fees and reservations. (325) 784-5223.
