WilliamReecephotoThe Pecan Valley Republican Women’s Club March Meeting will be held Wednesday March 28, 2012 starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Brownwood Country Club and will feature William Reece as guest speaker.

Many may remember Reece for his performance during the “Talking Tombstones” presentation last November.  Reece was one of the highlights of the tour as he historically reenacted the story of Buffalo Soldier Frank Caldwell.

Reece currently resides in Brownwood with his family; however, is a native of Coleman County and a 1982 graduate of Coleman High School and holds a Criminal Justice degree from Central Texas College.  He and his wife Karla have four grown children.

Reece has served more than half his life, 29 years, in the National Guard and has been deployed overseas three times, including twice to Afghanistan. His training as a cavalry scout sparked his interest in some of the best known cavalry scouts in military history, the Buffalo Soldiers. Ten years ago Reece became a historical re-enactor and joined a Buffalo Soldier unit at Camp Mabry, portraying the 9th Cavalry.

Reece is affiliated with VFW Post 8787 Austin, TX; Pecan Valley Genealogy Society Brownwood TX; 9th Cavalry Regiment Buffalo Soldiers Camp Mabry; AF&AM Indian Creek Lodge 801; and is a life member of the National Guard Association of Texas.

Make your plans to attend. Cost of lunch is $12 payable at the door.
