Early voting is well underway and Tuesday saw a record breaking turnout according to Brown County Elections officials.
Assistant Elections Administrator Larry Franks reported that record numbers have shown up at the polls and that many of the absentee ballots have been returned by mail.
“We had 967 voters today (Tuesday), a new daily record set,” said Franks in an email. “We have never had over 750 (even in the 2008 elections). We mailed out 658 ballots and have already had 477 returned.”
Franks said that 2008 saw a record voter turnout of 63%. On Monday, 783 ballots were cast.
Early voting remains open until November 2nd giving the public many opportunities to cast their votes ahead of the crowds. Registered voters may cast their ballots at the Adams Street Community Center, located at 511 E. Adams Street in Brownwood, during the following hours:Early Voting Dates and Times:

October 27 8:00am-5:00pm
October 28 Noon-5:00pm
October 29-31 8:00am-5:00pm
November 1 & 2 7:00am-7:00pm
Election Day is November 6 and polling locations throughout Brown County will be open from 7:00am-7:00pm.
