Early High School is hosting Parent Night: The Realities of Cyber bullying on July 15th from 6:00-7:30pm. The program is presented by Barbara Jones Parris (Middle School Principal in the Round Rock ISD) and the Education Service Center Region XV, San Angelo.
The internet is now a well established part of teenage social life. As parents, we all have an obligation to ensure that our children use it responsibly. Did you know for example that it is a felony to pose as someone else on a social networking site with the intent to do harm? Probably not. The odds are, our children do not realize it either. With the increase in teen suicides due to Cyber bullying, we all need to work together to contain this media in ways that keep students safe and ensures that the school climate remains focused on education. This session will show what the law says, how it is being enforced and what really happens when our children forget the boundaries. The lines drawn between “on campus” and “off campus” conduct are growing fuzzy. Know where you, your child and your school stand.
Contact Traci Terrill at ESC Region XV for additional information: 325-658-6571. The program is free, open to all parents in the Brownwood area and children are welcome to attend with parents.
