BrownwoodNews – Ranger College will usher out the historic in a matter of weeks and welcome the new year with a new look and exciting new location for its cosmetology program in Brown County.
Ranger College will unveil a new 2,100-square foot cosmetology facility in Early in January 2019. The new facility, located at 509 Early Boulevard, will provide Brown County students with a state-of-the-art facility, complete with an on-site classroom.
“We’re are extremely excited about opening a new cosmetology building in Brown County,” said Ranger College President William J. Campion. “The new site will ensure that our students receive the best possible training they can, as well as give the college a nice presence from which we can continue a commitment to help educate and train people in the area for almost 50 years.”
Brown County Campus Vice President Gordon Warren said the new facility demonstrates the college’s determination to remain a viable option for area students seeking careers in cosmetology.
“We’re very excited about this,” said Warren, who noted the important roles the Early Municipal Development District and facility owner Ronald Gee played in the process. “It is going to a beautiful place with state-of-the-art equipment. This will give our students a great learning environment.”
The new facility, located next to the Weakly-Watson Sporting Goods outlet, will replace the historic Brownwood facility Ranger College has used since the 1980s when it established its cosmetology program by absorbing the former Gary’s Beauty College which was operated in Brown County from the mid-1960s until becoming part of the Ranger College system. The current facility will cease to operate on Dec. 13, 2018 at the end of the current semester.
Warren said the college would move its cosmetology operation to the new facility during the Christmas and New Year’s break. A formal grand opening of the new Ranger College School of Cosmetology will be held when classes reconvene on Jan. 22, 2019.
Assistant Vice President Dayna Prochaska said the new facility would be a welcome upgrade for Brown County students who make up a large portion of Ranger College’s 2018 graduating class. Overall, Brown County students – in nursing, cosmetology and general studies – will represent more than half of the college’s December graduates.
“I really believe this is going to be great for our students, the college, and for the community as a whole,” she said.
