Frederich Slabach, President of Texas Wesleyan University (Ft. Worth), and Allen Henderson, Provost and Sr. Vice President of the university, met with Dr. Bill Campion, President of Ranger College, and Dr. Billy Adams, Vice President for Student Instruction, on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 to sign an Articulation Agreement, forming a partnership between the two institutions to provide a pathway for student transfer from Ranger College to Texas Wesleyan University.
“Students will not have to retake a lot of courses that they have taken at Ranger College, and can better plan and know which courses to take at Wesleyan University,” President Slabach said. He further explained that Texas Wesleyan has developed a scholarship as part of their “Smaller, Smarter” program designed for students with 42 credits, a B average, and who are fully Pell grant eligible, which would allow them to attend Texas Wesleyan tuition free. Recognizing that some students from community colleges are graduating with technical degrees, President Slabach added that Texas Wesleyan is also developing technical degrees for these students.President Bill Campion underlined the importance of the articulation agreement between the two institutions of higher learning. “This agreement will be of great benefit to Ranger College students for many years to come,” he said.
Texas Wesleyan University is a Methodist private university founded in 1890. President Slabach commented that the university will be celebrating 125 years in Ft. Worth. He also added an interesting fact: The university’s graduate nurse anesthesia program is the largest in the nation.
