The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a flash flood watch for a portion of West Central Texas for the following counties, Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Concho, Crockett, Irion, Kimble, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Nolan, Runnels, San Saba, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton, Taylor and Tom Green.
The watch is in effect from 7 am Thursday through Friday morning.
Heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches, with localized amounts near 4 inches, is expected across most of West Central Texas today and tonight.
Periods of heavy rainfall are expected through tonight. Runoff from this rainfall, combined with antecedent moisture from rain received earlier this week, may result in flash flooding of roads, low water crossings, creeks and streams, and urban areas.
A flash flood watch means that heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued
