Candidates are beginning to file this week for places on the ballot in the Republican and Democratic primaries which will take place on March 6th.

Races are beginning to develop for the two county commissioner spots on the ballot in the Republican primary. 

Precinct 1 incumbent county commissioner Steve Adams has filed for a place on the Republican primary ballot as well as challenger Tommy Blevins who also filed.

Precinct 3 incumbent county commissioner Richard Gist has also filed in the Republican primary with a pair of challengers so far, Wayne Shaw and Chris Cadenhead. 

A race has also developed for constable Precinct 3 with incumbent C. T. Ham being challenged by Keith Varner.  Constable incumbents who have also filed so far include Bob Beadel, Precinct 1; David Hefner, Precinct 2; and Jim Byars, Precinct 4.

Local offices in the Republican primary which have yet to have anyone file include sheriff, county attorney, and tax assessor-collector.  

Officials representing the Democratic Party state that no one has filed as a Democratic candidate yet for any of these places.

Candidates in local, state, and federal races have until December 15th to file for a place on the ballot.
