Veterinarians have confirmed that the fox that attacked an 8-year-old boy at Lake Brownwood last weekend did have rabies.
The fox attacked the child while he was playing in the front yard of his grandparents’ home in a neighborhood near Lake Brownwood.
Brown County Sheriff reports indicated that the boy’s grandfather shook the fox off of the boy’s leg and then killed the animal.
The child was given an initial round of rabies shots early in the week and is continuing to receive
a series of post-exposure rabies shots to prevent the disease from progressing.
