The Eighth Annual Heart of Texas Quilt Show was held this weekend at the Brownwood Coliseum with 130 quilts on display which were judged in 18 categories.
Pictured at top is this year’s Best of Show, Japanese Garden which was entered by Varnelle McBeth from Clyde, Texas. Her entry also won a first place ribbon in its category and the Judge’s Choice Award in the judged division along with a second place in the viewer’s choice for Applique/Machine Quilted category. Attendees on Saturday voted on their favorite quilt in each category and their favorite overall.
This year’s judge was Kathleen Ackley from Elgin, Texas. She awarded 1st through 3rd place ribbons in each category and two overall awards; Judge’s Choice-Judged Division and Judge’s Favorite Overall selected from all the quilt entries, whether they were entered to be judged or not. The winner of the Judge’s favorite went to Linda Lancaster from May, Texas for her Little Buds entry (pictured below). This quilt was in the miniature category and measures approximately 8×10 inches with as much detail as a full sized quilt.
