The Brownwood Lyric Theatre is getting set to kick off a stage production of Morland Cary’s Love Rides the Rails on Thursday, May 19th, and tickets to the performances are now on sale. The production is being directed by Austin Bynum.
There will be 10 performances scheduled for the show from May 19th – 29th at the Brownwood Lyric Theatre in Downtown Brownwood. Evening performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on May 19-21 and 26-28. Matinee shows will be at 2:30 p.m. on May 20, 22, 28 and 29.
Below is a synopsis of the production.
The villianous Simon Darkway seeks to control the Walker Valley, Pine Bush & Pacific R.R. for his own vile purposes. Assisting him are Dirk Sneath, a viper of a man, and Carlotta Cortez, the sultry siren with a heart of gold. Fortunately, the gallant Truman Pendennis, the beauteous Prudence Hopewell, the Widow Hopewell, and staunch Harold Standfast oppose the sinister schemes of this wicked trio. Swiftly and hilariously, the classic melodramatic plot unfolds, leading to a tremendous climax when the hero is inescapably bound by the villains to the tracks of an onrushing train. Thankfully, it is our heroine who arrives just in the nick of time to stop the train and save the day.
