The Purple Raptors defeated the Terminators in the 2014 6th Grade Flag Football Super Bowl game held November 12th at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Brownwood Intermediate School students braved the colder weather as players and spectators during the event which also featured a performance of the National Anthem by the 6th Grade Choir, and a halftime show featuring the BHS Band and BHS Lionettes.
The coin toss was won by the Purple Raptors who deferred to receive in the 2nd half. The Terminators took the ball first, advanced the length of the field, and capitalized with a touchdown by Logan Stone. With the score 6-0 the Terminators secured an onside kick recovered by Hayden Humphries who went on to score a few plays later to put the Terminators up 12-0. It didn’t take long for the Purple Raptors to answer back with a Blake Brasher touchdown, putting them on the board with a score of 12-6 before the half.
To start the second half Malachi Revada of the Purple Raptors (pictured above) took a screen pass the distance to tie the game at 12. The Purple Raptors put a stop to the Terminators’ drive with a key pick from Revada, putting them back in control of the ball. In the following play Revada threw a pass to Collin Lyons for another Purple Raptor touchdown and giving them a lead of 18-12. The Purple Raptors attempted the two-point conversion, and though Revada got rushed, he decided to keep the ball and dove in giving the Raptors another two points, bringing the score to 20-12. With the clock winding down the Terminators’ Tay Jones found a way to the end zone for a touchdown, but ultimately the Terminators fell short to a Purple Raptor victory 20-18.
