articlepuntpassandkickThe City of Brownwood’s Parks & Recreation Department hosted the free NFL/Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition this morning at Coggin Park.  This annual competition is open for boys and girls between ages 8-15.

The weather was clear and hot, but that did not keep the younger kids from coming out to show off their football skills.  There were many more participants in the younger age brackets than the older brackets this year with the boys far outnumbering the girls.

In this competition, each participant demonstrates their skills at punting , passing and kicking a football for distance.  The top boy and girl in each age bracket will advance to the sectional round of the competition.  According to the City’s Parks & Recreation Director David Withers, this sectional round is usually held in Abilene, but the location has not been officially announced as yet.  Winners of the sectional round will advance to regionals and then the finals are played at the Dallas Cowboy’s stadium.

Here are the winners of today’s local competition by age bracket:puntpassandkicklogo
