Friends and family of Kim Finch are hosting a pulled pork plate fundraiser for at Firestone Tires in Brownwood on November 9th at 11:00 am until sold out. Plates consist of a pulled pork sandwich along with chips and a drink, which are offered at $7 per plate. Donations are also being accepted at this time.
Kim was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio on Sunday May 19th. The next day, she started chemotherapy. On September 17 she received a bone marrow transplant, and her body is fighting but still has a ways to go in her recovery process.
Kim Finch is originally from Early, is the mother of two Texas Tech students, and is currently living in Harper, TX. She worked in Kerrville at a medical spa until she was diagnosed with Leukemia in March of 2013. She hasn’t been able to work since she was diagnosed in mid May. She received a bone marrow transplant on September 17th. Kim has not been released to drive since her transplant so friends are taking shifts going to stay with her and take her to and from the hospital.
Kim will have a ‘new normal’ along with medical bills and other expenses that go along with being hospitalized for an extended time have been piling up. She hasn’t been able to work for the last 5 months.
Anyone unable to attend the pulled pork fundraiser on November 9th can make a donation for Kim at TexasBank.
