Head women’s basketball coach Joshua Prock announced today that he will be leaving Howard Payne University to take the head women’s basketball coaching position at NCAA Division II Eastern New Mexico University.
After five seasons at the helm of the Howard Payne Lady Jacket program, Joshua Prock recorded a 108-31 record tying him for second all-time in wins at HPU. A search will begin for his replacement immediately.
“We congratulate Josh on this move to the next level and certainly appreciate the five years that he gave the HPU women’s basketball program,” said Mike Jones HPU Director of Athletics. “He did a great job for us and we wish him the best in the future.”
Coach Prock won American Southwest Conference titles in 2009 and 2011 and also ASC West Division titles in 2011 and 2013.
This season he led the program to its 10th consecutive 20-win season, the fifth under his direction. He also was named ASC West Division Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2013.
“I want to thanks Dr. Lanny Hall, Mike Jones, and Dr. Brad Johnson for believing in me when they first hired me and also to Dr. Bill Ellis for his continued belief, faith, and support in me over the past few years,” said Joshua Prock. “This has definitely been an outstanding administration to work for. I am so thankful to all the players who are currently playing and have played for us over the years nothing would have been possible without them.”
While at HPU, Prock has coached one First Team All-American, one Honorable Mention All-American, two ASC West Division Players of the Year and 18 different All-Conference players.
Prock added, “Also want to thank Lindy Hatfield it was a true honor to work alongside her. I want to thank Meia Daniels as well for this past year and all her unbelievable work and support. I know she will continue to do great things with her career. Lastly, I just want to thank all the support staff, faculty, staff, and other administration at HPU for all the support they have given me and certainly want to mention the greatest fan base I have ever worked with the people of this community are the best and my family although excited about our new adventure will miss everyone greatly.”
