Best known for being a principal at Woodland Heights Elementary and previously South Elementary, now retired Bob Turner has opened a unique business, Principally Coins & Metal Detectors, in Early.
Turner has always enjoyed collecting coins, is involved in the Brown County Coin Club, and has traveled to sell his inventory at the occasional coin show. After retirement, he worked at a few local businesses but always wanted to have his own store. On February 21st, Turner opened the doors of the his new business, Principally Coins & Metal Detectors, which is located at 3002 Early Blvd., just 2.8 miles northeast of Sonic.
Turner buys, sells and trades coins and is a locally authorized dealer of Garrett and White’s metal detectors.
The Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, said the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” comforted Turner when he retired.
“I didn’t know what the future held. As the opportunities and the circumstances came about to open this shop, I feel like the shop is the fruition of this verse from those early days of retirement.”
Turner has been involved as the secretary of the Brown County Coin Club, writing columns about coin collecting and serves as the president of the local treasure hunter’s club.
“Opening the coin shop and metal detector store allows me to enjoy my hobby more and gives me something to do in retirement,” said Turner.
Those who remember Turner as a principal may recognize the blue haired man on his advertising to represent his time at Woodland Heights and the “Woodland Heights Rocks” fundraiser that he participated in, coloring his hair blue “like a rock star” when students reached their fundraising goal.
Turner invites the public to visit his new business and learn a little about coin collecting or treasure hunting with his full line of metal detectors. These two product lines offer a chance to develop a hobby that could result in a great investment.
