Brownwood Fire Marshal Buddy Preston reports that a heater in the living room of a Lake Brownwood home destroyed by fire Monday night is the possible cause of the blaze.
Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, the property was reported to be fully engulfed in flames as firefighters arrived at the home located in the 6900 block of County Road 569 at Lake Brownwood.
Fire Marshal Buddy Preston said that no one was home when the fire began and no injuries were reported.
The wood frame home was reported to be a total loss. Preston stated that the home has been in the owner’s family for years, and the owner’s parents bought it when he was just 2 months old. After his parents moved away, he lived in it for many years off and on, said Preston.
Lake Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, Bangs VFD, Lake Dam VFD and Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of the fire Monday night.
