Brownwood News – The City of Brownwood has issued a construction permit for Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen at 207 East Commerce, the former location of Taco Bueno. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-December, with the restaurant opening soon thereafter.
Popeye’s and Taco Bueno are owned by Sun Holdings of Dallas. Sun Holdings also owns Arby’s, Cici’s Pizza, Golden Corral, Burger King, Krispy Kreme, McAlister’s, GNC, and T-Mobile.
The Sun Holdings web site states: “Popeye’s distinguishes itself with a unique “New Orleans” style menu that features spicy chicken, chicken tenders, fried shrimp and other seafood, as well as jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice and other regional items.”
Popeye’s was founded in New Orleans in 1972, and now has over 1800 locations in more than 40 states and 22 countries.
