Voters are reminded to cast their ballots Tuesday in the General Election which will decide several offices and will also decide whether or not local seniors (65 and over) will get a county exemption which would cap on the value of their homestead property (create a tax freeze). Polls will be open from7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at all locations.
Senior citizens currently have a freeze at age 65 on their homestead values for their school taxes. If passed, this vote will also freeze the homestead amount for county taxes.
Another important item on the ballot is Proposition 1, which will help fund road infrastructure throughout the state of Texas if approved.
