The Early Police Department has released a composite drawing of the suspect who entered a residence on Mitsy Lane on September 6th. The drawing was done through the assistance of the Tarleton State University Police Department in Stephenville, Early Police Chief David Mercer said in a press release. The drawing shows the general description and facial features of the suspect, but witnesses added that the skin color is very dark.  He stands about 6’03” with a slender build.

The investigation has been ongoing since the home invasion occurred on Mitsy Lane where the suspect entered the residence after peeking through the windows while four children were home alone.  Mercer said that many different theories have been investigated to look for the suspect in this case and police have been following several leads. Several agencies have assisted in the investigation including the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers.

“We have looked at several registered sex offenders in the area that could match the description, and in one case, a sex offender from May was arrested by the BCSO for failing to comply with registration requirements,” Mercer said in the release.

On two other occasions, police have received prowler calls where residents have seen someone outside their home who was described as being tall, Mercer said.  Officials said that they have responded to several other prowler calls over the past two weeks where callers reported hearing noises but not seeing any suspect.

“Many rumors have plagued the investigation over the past two weeks which have many people scared,” Mercer said. “We have had no forced entry calls and only one where the person has entered the house.”

Investigators are still looking to see if the home invasion case is connected to a sexual assault case in Dublin and another case in Stephenville.

“We have met with Erath County officers on several occasions including Thursday the 15th when many area agency officials and Erath County, Dublin PD and Tarleton PD officers met and discussed the case,” Mercer said. “Currently it is not a proven fact that the Early case is connected to Dublin cases but we are communicating regularly.”

The Early Police Department is working closely with several other agencies in case they get a break in the investigation, Mercer said.

“We are continuing the investigation on Mitsy Lane and have had, at several given times, 9 investigators, 2 Texas Rangers, 1 US Marshal and numerous uniformed officers working together in case so we have the upper hand on it,” Mercer said.  “The case on Mitsy could be someone that came off the highway, went into the house then went on his way. If this is the case, we may never know who he is.”

Police officials are urging area residents to take standard safety precautions.  They are also asking residents to call police if they see any suspicious activity.

“If everyone will take general precautions and keep their eyes open for each other – lock your cars, houses, windows and leave a light on somewhere around the house,” Mercer said.  “We all need to practice general safety all the time.  We will answer any suspicious person or vehicle calls that are reported as quickly as possible.”

Anyone with information that can help in the home invasion case is asked to call the Early Police Department at 325-646-5322.
