The Brownwood Police Department is currently investigating multiple criminal mischief cases involving the rear and side windshields of vehicles being shattered.
Police reports show that more than a half dozen windshields have been broken in various parts of town over the last week. The reports indicate that some sort of air rifle such as a BB or pellet gun was used to break the windows. Areas that have reported similar cases include the 3300 block of 1st Street, 2200 block of Vine Street, 3000 and 2100 blocks of Avenue E, 3500 block of Surrey Lane, the 4600 block of Delwood, and what one report calls “multiple calls on the south side of Brownwood”.
The incidents started being reported on December 21st and some as recent as December 27th.
Brownwood Assistant Police Chief James Fuller said that they suspect the incidents are related. Fuller said that the cases are under investigation and are likely “random acts” possibly by kids or teenagers. Suspects in this case could be facing multiple charges of criminal mischief.
Anyone with information regarding these cases is encouraged to call the Brownwood Police Department at 325-646-2525.
