Brownwood Police were called to a hit and run of a building early Tuesday morning in the 2600 block of Highway 377S.

At approximately 2:44 a.m., Brownwood Police officers were called to the USDA office complex regarding a hit and run of their building.

According to the police report, the custodian, Keith King had been cleaning the building and was in a back room when he heard glass breaking.   King then called Todd Powell of USDA to report that someone had crashed into the building with a vehicle and fled the scene, possibly earlier in the night, but that King had only heard the glass as it fell from the mini blinds hitting the floor.  Pictured above is the damaged wall and broken shrubbery.

Powell stated that the accident could have happened anytime between 5:35 p.m. on Monday, December 17th and 2:39 a.m. Tuesday, December 18th.

Police report that the center window along with structural damage to the building appeared consistent with a vehicle striking the building.  Damage from the incident included the front window, shrubbery in front of the sidewalk, a roof overhang support post, the rock veneer, wall framing and interior wall.

Investigation found pieces of the suspect vehicle which had broken off during the crash and shrubbery which had apparently fallen off the suspect vehicle in the 2400 block of U.S. Hwy 377S.

Anyone with information regarding the accident is encouraged to call the Brownwood Police Department at 325-646-2525.
