Brownwood Police report that an officer who was patrolling on foot found several marijuana plants at a local apartment complex on Slayden.
Officer Brandon Miller was visiting the apartment complex after going off duty last Tuesday and saw several residents near an apartment acting suspicious according to police. The police report states that Miller recognized one of the men as being involved with illegal narcotics in the past. He also noted in the report that one of the men placed something on the ground near a small bush that was growing just outside of the apartment. After the men left the area, Miller investigated the location closer and saw what looked like a small marijuana bush which was growing outside of the apartment.
Miller returned to the apartment complex on Thursday to follow-up on his recent discovery. When investigating the area, Miller reports that he found a total of 8 marijuana plants growing near the apartment.
While Miller was on scene, a resident of the complex called the Law Enforcement Center asking what the Police Department had found at the apartment and wanted to meet with the officer. While talking with the resident, police learned he lived at the nearby apartment with his girlfriend. The report states that the man told police he did not know the plants were marijuana.
Police confiscated the plants and at this time the investigation is continuing and no arrests have made.
