Brownwood News – On Thursday, August 17th, at approximately 10:32 a.m., officers with the Brownwood Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of West Commerce Street in reference to child abuse. Communications advised that a small child was inside of a vehicle without an adult present while the vehicle’s engine was running.

 

Upon arrival, officers observed a child younger than 10 years of age in the front seat of the vehicle, playing with various dash and door controls. Officers also observed two younger children, between the ages of 1 and 3, in the back seat of the vehicle, according to the report. Several minutes after officers arriving, the mother and grandmother returned to the vehicle.

During the course of the investigation and interview with both adults, officers located a prescription pill bottle in the driver’s side door that did not contain the prescription pills that were noted on the bottle.

Arrested at the scene was 26 year old Alisha Gamez of Brownwood, charged with Abandoning/Endangering a Child and Possession of a Dangerous Drug.

Law enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, August 21, 2017. All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
