On Friday, April 28th, at 9:45 a.m. Animal Control Officer Judy Williams requested for a Brownwood Police Officer to assist her on an animal cruelty call. Dispatch stated a 22 year old male texted the complainant’s daughter and said that he “killed his puppy and threw it in the dumpster” that was located in the front yard, according to the police report.

Upon arrival, the officer observed Williams holding a black and gold mix puppy. Williams stated she opened the City of Brownwood dumpster located in front of the residence near the 1500 block of Avenue E and observed the puppy was still alive.

Williams advised the puppy was hot since the lid of the dumpster was closed. Both the Brownwood Police Officer and the Animal Control Officer observed some swelling on the left side of the puppy’s face. In the report, the officer noted the puppy was very friendly.

Evidence including photographs of the text messages, the puppy, and the dumpster were collected. An investigation is ongoing.

Friday, April 28th

*11:36 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 4200 block of US 377 in reference to theft. A female stated that her caretaker had stolen a nebulizer from her. A theft report was generated.

*6:50 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Belle Plain regarding a theft. Officers spoke with the manager who stated a man had stolen a carton of cigarettes. Upon further investigation, the carton of cigarettes were located and returned to the manager. A citation was issued to the suspect.

Saturday, April 29th

*12:52 p.m. Brownwood Police responded to an address in south Brownwood in reference to a scam. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a male subject, who advised them that a male had contacted him by phone and identified himself as his grandson. The caller convinced the elderly man to purchase $9,000 worth of gift cards and provide him the gift card information. A report was generated.

Sunday, April 30th

*12:43 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Avenue H in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, the officer located the suspect and numerous witnesses. The victim was identified but refused to give a statement. The witnesses refused to state what occurred. The suspect was found to be very intoxicated but also suffering from “excited delirium,” according to the report. The suspect was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for his safety and for evaluation.

*7:13 a.m. Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop near the 2100 block of US 377. During this stop, officers arrested Ashley Nichole Duncan for Driving While Intoxicated, 3rd or more offense.

*11:40 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Avenue B regarding a stolen vehicle. According to the report, a tan/gold 2011 Chevy Impala was stolen, along with a small amount of cash, debit cards, and identification. A suspect has been identified and police are currently investigating.

*2:04 p.m. Brownwood Police responded to a call regarding a theft from the 3300 block of Stephen F. Austin. According to the report, several items were listed as stolen, including a weedeater, an 8-foot aluminum ladder, and two 5-gallon gas cans. A known suspect was listed, and the investigation is ongoing.

*2:28 p.m. Brownwood Police responded to a call from the 1700 block of Woodridge in reference to criminal mischief. A report was generated.

*5:00 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 Block of Dallas Street in regards to a domestic disturbance. A report was taken to be passed on for further investigation.

*5:30 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Vine Street in reference to a disorderly conduct call. A male subject resisted a pat down search and was arrested for Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport and Assault/Family Violence.

*5:39 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Commerce St. in reference to a theft. A report has been generated.

*6:22 p.m. Brownwood Police spoke with a complainant over the phone who advised his grandson’s cell phone was stolen while he was playing at another residence. The complainant did wish to file charges, and a report was filed.

Monday, May 1st

*3:45 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the area of 1st Street and Magnolia in reference to an intoxicated person. Officers located a 23 year old male in the 2700 block of Southside. Investigation showed the man was intoxicated to the point he was a danger to himself. Officers placed the man under arrest for Public Intoxication.

*5:20 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Lackey Street for a burglary. Upon further investigation 18 year old Justice Hall was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, less than 2 oz. Hall was transported to the Brown County Jail.
