Two local members of the Boy Scouts of America from Blanket, who are brothers, earned the rank of Eagle Scout recently. Eagle Scout Rank Awards and certificates were presented by their parents to Allan Douglass Piri and Colton Ryan Piri of Troop 22 on Sunday, January 31, 2016, during a church service at Grace Lutheran in Brownwood. Allan and Colton are the sons of National Guardsman Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew and Laura Piri of Blanket, Texas.
Pastor Curt Schneider presented Allan and Colton with the National Lutheran Scouting Certificates.
Allan and Colton both selected as their service projects to assist the Good Samaritan Ministries in Brownwood. Allan built and painted four large shelving units to accommodate storage of their items for their retail shop. Colton’s project was to refurbish the janitorial closet by painting, adding shelves and hooks and restoring another cupboard for storage of items for the homeless.Allan is a senior at Early High School and has participated in football, basketball, baseball, band and FFA.
Colton is a sophomore at Early High School and has participated in basketball, baseball, tennis, band and FFA.
Both Allan and Colton served as den chiefs for Cub Scout Pack 4 in Early, and Allan with Cub Scout Pack 20 in San Angelo, Texas, prior to moving to Blanket. The Den Chief Service Awards were presented to Allan and Colton for their many years of service to the packs and other requirements to complete this honor.
Allan and Colton are both members of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society.
