The Brownwood Art Association’s Photo Group will have their annual photography exhibit August 6 through 29, 2015. The exhibit will be held at the Art Center, 215 Fisk Ave, Brownwood, Texas with gallery hours to be announced at a later date.
Thanks to the generosity of the BAA and the Arts Council of Brownwood, the photo group received funds to have a special photography event as part of their annual membership exhibit. The group decided that a portion of the exhibit would be dedicated to photographs of the National Park Services Missions of San Antonio, Texas. It should be noted that the Missions have recently been designated as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). As of now 13 photographers will be displaying approximately seventy images taken of the five San Antonio Missions.
All members of the Photo Group are encouraged to submit other photographic works for display in the exhibit. This exhibit is not limited to images of the missions, but can be of any subject. There is no limit to the number of entries, but all should be framed and wired for hanging. There will be a monetary award presented for the People’s Choice Award at the reception. Entries will be accepted at the Art Center starting Saturday, August 1st to no later than noon on Wednesday, August 5th. Contact Fred Spencer at 325-642-3036 or Roger Levesque, 325-998-3025 for specific times the Art Center will be open or for other information.
The BAA Photo Group is open and free to all persons interested in photography. In addition to participating in photographic events, there is a mentorship program available to all members. Monthly meetings are held the second Thursday of each month from 6 to 8 pm at the Art Center, 215 Fisk Ave, Brownwood, Texas. This is an opportunity to talk, learn, share and critique photography with others that have a passion for photography.
