Phillip David Gomez, Jr., age 46, of Brownwood passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, December 9, 2017, in Galveston, Texas.

Funeral Services for David will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Frances Njoku officiating; burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-7p.m. with Rosary starting at 7 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.

David was born to Phillip David, Sr. and Mary Lou (Balderrama) Gomez on December 21, 1970, in Brownwood, Texas. He went to Brownwood High School, Class of 1989. David married Bonnie Lucero on April 7, 1995 and together they had a daughter, Danielle Gomez.

David was a charismatic man with an infectious smile. The minute you met him he would have you laughing with crazy stories. David would literally give you the shirt off his back. As soon as you met him, you loved him. Dealing with David has been a long journey. David will be greatly missed by his entire family.

David is survived by his daughter, Danielle Gomez-Torres of Brownwood; father and step-mother, Phillip David Gomez, Sr. and Irene of Brownwood; mother and step-father, Mary Lou Garza and David of Brady; sister, Tammy Carrasco and husband Rene of Brady; 4 brothers, Stephen Austin Gomez of Brady, Christopher Gomez and wife Mellisa of Brownwood, Jon Paul Gomez and wife Ana of San Antonio, and Adrian Gomez of San Antonio; step-sister, Teresa Baugh of Brownwood; 9 nieces and nephews; paternal grandmother, Sarah Gomez; and numerous aunts and uncles. He is also survived by other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Austin Gomez; paternal grandfather, Ted Gomez; and maternal grandmother, Mary Diaz.
