Peggy Sue Blackmon Mackey

Funeral services for Peggy Sue Blackmon Mackey, age 80, of Blanket, Texas will be held 10 AM Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Blanket First Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Rock Church Cemetery in Blanket.  The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at the Heartland Funeral Home.   Mrs. Mackey passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in a local nursing home.

Peggy was born on October 23, 1935 in Blanket, Texas to Ralph and Alma Thompson Blackmon.  She was a lifetime resident of Blanket and member of the Blanket First Baptist Church where she married Donald Mackey on July 10, 1954.  Peggy was a homemaker, artist and had previously worked at Gibsons and the Brown County Tax Accessor Collector’s Office.

Survivors include her children Dessa Thomas and husband Bill of Zephyr, Texas, Ben Mackey and wife Serena of Blanket, Texas, Brian Mackey and wife Tammy of Brookesmith, Texas, Wesley Mackey and John Tuder of Columbia, Tennessee, Joe Don Mackey of Blanket, Texas, Valeri Stair and husband Charles of Round Rock, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters; one sister Doris Thornhill and husband Tim of Brownwood, Texas; two great aunts Annie Thompson Rose of LaPort, Texas and Sarah Thompson of Early, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother Bobby Jack Blackmon, one sister Melba Blackmon.
